     The central Museum in Jakarta,which houses one of the finest collections of Indonesian historical and Culture relics.This museum is located in the West Jl.Merdeka. Founded in April 1778 by JCM Rademacher. Museum also known as Museum Gajah center, because there is a statue of an elephant in front of which was a gift from the King of Thailand: Chulalongkorn when he visit to Indonesia in 1871. In addition to the museum's Elephant Museum also has another name, namely Building Houses, since many paid a visit to this place is the young couple.

     In this museum can be found:

Buddha statue came from Borobudur Temple, Trimurti statue, Ganesh statue, Nandhi statue, and a large statue Bhairawa.

^ Indonesia's largest library has hundreds of books such as documentation, newspapers, magazines, inscriptions, written in the reign of the Netherlands.

     And i'd like to describe historical of national museum.On April 24th 1778,a group of Dutch intellectual established a scientific Wetenschappen institution under the name Bataviaasch Genootschap Van Kunsten en Or (Batavia Society for Arts and Science. A private body with the aim of promoting research in the field of arts and sciences,especially in history,archeology,ethnography and physics,and publish the various findings.One of the founders JCM Radermacher donated a building and a collection of cultural objects and books,which were of a great valueto start off a museum and library for the society.Because of the growing collections General Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles build new premises on Jalan Majapahit no.3 at the beginning of the 19th century and named it the Literary Society.In the 1862 the Dutch East Indian Goverment decided to build a new museum which would not only serve as an office but could be used to house,preserve and exhibit the collections.

     The museum was officially opened in 1868 and became known as Gedung Gajah (Elephant House) or Gedung Arca (House of Statues).The Museum National is not only a center of research and study into the national culture heritage,but also functions as an educative,cultural,and recreative information center.
